Glossary term: Ecliptic

Description: The ecliptic is the apparent path of the Sun amongst the stars during the year. This takes the form of a great circle. Effectively, the ecliptic is the projection of Earth’s orbit around the Sun onto the celestial sphere. All constellations of the Zodiac lie along the ecliptic.
