Moon covering the Sun
immagine
Didascalia: Moon covering the Sun during the total solar eclipse of April 8th, 2024. The solar corona is also visible at totality. Image taken in Arkansas, USA. This image was processed using a Larson-Sekanina-style technique. Multiple exposures ranging from 1/500 second to 4 seconds were stacked and combined with a rotational gradient filter to reveal fine structural detail across the corona's extreme brightness range. This is done because the inner corona saturates at longer exposures, while the outer corona and the Moon are only visible at those same longer exposures.

Solar corona
immagine
Didascalia: Solar corona composite during the totality of the April 8th, 2024 solar eclipse. Solar prominences are also visible on the right side edge. The 4-second exposure was excluded from this image, since only the Moon was captured in this frame.

The End of Year Ceremony at Nshupu Secondary School
immagine
Didascalia: At Nshupu Secondary School, the end-of-school-year ceremony became a memorable celebration of learning, achievement, and astronomy. Matthias from Austria was invited as the Guest of Honour and had the opportunity to present participation certificates to Form Four students, while one student was also recognized for success in a national competition. The ceremony included an engaging question-and-answer session, where students showed great curiosity by asking questions about life beyond Earth, other planets, and what would happen if Earth stopped spinning. The event highlighted the students’ growing interest in astronomy and their enthusiasm for learning beyond the classroom, creating an inspiring moment for both students and teachers.
