To improve science teaching and learning for all children, we must first understand effective strategies teachers use and the challenges they face in PreK-12 classrooms. Just as many biologist and geologist conduct field studies out in nature, educational researchers’ field work often takes place in PreK-12 settings. This session focuses on astronomy education research with teachers and students and provides insights into successfully conducting research in schools.
About Kathy Trundle
Kathy Cabe Trundle’s leadership in science education spans almost 40 years, and her research primarily focuses on Earth and Space Science concepts. Grounded in conceptual change theory, her work includes misconceptions, conceptual change, and conceptual durability in response to instructional interventions. Her current work includes the integration of art into STEM learning with preschool children, and recent USDA funding will allow her to explore school garden-based learning, biodiversity, and sustainability. With more than 200 scholarly publications, she has delivered 61 invited presentations and keynote addresses at national and international (China, Indonesia, New Zealand, Turkey) conferences.
