Description: Die Chromosphäre (oder "Farbhülle") der Sonne oder eines anderen sonnenähnlichen Sterns ist die dünne Schicht in der Atmosphäre direkt über der Photosphäre. Die Photosphäre ist eine dichtere Schicht, aus der das Sonnen- oder Sternenlicht ausgestrahlt wird. Bei einer totalen Sonnenfinsternis ist die Chromosphäre als lichtschwacher, rötlicher Rand aus glühenden Gasen (hauptsächlich Wasserstoff) sichtbar, daher der Name.
