Glossary term: Bulbe galactique

Description: Dans la Voie lactée, le bulbe galactique est la région autour du centre galactique, où les étoiles sont disposées dans un volume moins aplati que dans la région environnante qui est en forme de disque. Le bulbe de la Voie lactée contient principalement de vieilles étoiles, mais aussi de jeunes étoiles. D'autres galaxies spirales possèdent des bulbes centraux d'étendue variable.
