Glossary term: Pénombre
Description: La pénombre (en latin, "presque l'ombre") a deux significations.
Dans la première, la pénombre désigne la partie extérieure, moins sombre, de l'ombre projetée sur un corps lors d'une éclipse, dans laquelle la lumière n'est que partiellement bloquée. Par exemple, lors d'une éclipse solaire, les observateurs situés dans la zone de pénombre verront la Lune ne recouvrir que partiellement le Soleil et ne connaîtront qu'une éclipse partielle.
Dans le second cas, la pénombre désigne la partie extérieure distincte et plus lumineuse d'une tache solaire.
