Glossary term: Objet transneptunien
Description: Les objets transneptuniens (OTN) sont une catégorie de petits objets et de planètes naines qui gravitent autour du Soleil au-delà de l'orbite de Neptune. Ils sont définis comme ayant une distance typique au Soleil (le demi-grand axe de leur orbite) supérieure à la distance typique de Neptune par rapport au Soleil (30,1 unités astronomiques ou distances Terre-Soleil). Il existe plus de 2000 TNO connus. La plupart d'entre eux font partie de la ceinture de Kuiper, mais les objets plus éloignés font partie d'une population appelée disque dispersé.
