Glossary term: Chromosphère

Description: La chromosphère (ou "sphère de couleur") du Soleil ou d'une autre étoile semblable au Soleil est la fine couche de l'atmosphère située directement au-dessus de la photosphère, qui est la couche plus dense à partir de laquelle la lumière du Soleil ou de l'étoile est émise. Lors d'une éclipse totale du Soleil, la chromosphère est visible sous la forme d'un léger anneau de gaz incandescents, principalement de l'hydrogène qui brille d'une couleur rouge, d'où son nom.
