Description: पृथ्वी गोलाकार आहे. पृथ्वीवरील स्थाने परिभाषित करण्यासाठी गोलाच्या पृष्ठभागावर काल्पनिक रेषांचे दोन संच काढले जातात. रेखांशाच्या रेषा ही मोठी वर्तुळं आहेत जी पृथ्वीभोवती आणि उत्तर आणि दक्षिण ध्रुवांवरून जातात. विषुववृत्त 0 अक्षांश साठी नैसर्गिक संदर्भ बिंदू प्रदान करत असताना, 0 रेखांशाची रेषा मान्य करणे आवश्यक होते. 0 रेखांशाची मान्यताप्राप्त रेषा लंडन, यूके मधील ग्रीनविचमधून जाते आणि तिला प्राइम मेरिडियन किंवा ग्रीनविच मेरिडियन असेही संबोधले जाते. अँटेमेरिडियन हा जगाभोवती १८० अंशांवर आहे आणि आंतरराष्ट्रीय तारीख रेषेचा आधार आहे. पृथ्वीभोवतीचे संपूर्ण अंतर 360 अंश आहे. विषुववृत्ताला समांतर, पृथ्वीभोवती लहान वर्तुळातही रेषा आहेत. या अक्षांश रेषा आहेत.
