Description: A palavra ciência é derivada do latim scientia, que significa conhecimento. No entanto, no contexto moderno, ciência se refere às disciplinas e subdisciplinas que desenvolvem conhecimento mediante o uso de dados de experimentos e observações. Cada disciplina científica pode ter seus próprios métodos e abordagens, mas elas compartilham semelhanças que incluem objetividade, lógica, pensamento racional e fornecimento de explicações baseadas em evidências dos mecanismos físicos subjacentes a fenômenos e objetos. Dessa forma, a ciência não se baseia em crença ou autoridade; ela se autocorrige conforme revelado por experimentos e observações. A ciência também pode se referir ao conjunto de conhecimentos relacionados a uma determinada disciplina.
