1st Asian Regional Shaw-IAU Workshop on Astronomy for Education

The 1st Asian Regional Shaw-IAU Workshop on Astronomy for Education will take place from December 19–21, 2024, in the scenic Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. This workshop aims to bring together National Astronomy Education Coordinators (NAECs), teachers, and educators from across Asia to explore innovative methods for integrating astronomy into education. Key themes include using astronomy in low-tech environments, integrating it into STEM education, developing pedagogical approaches, and leveraging ICT for astronomy education. Participants will also learn how to incorporate project-based astronomy education into their teaching practices.

This unique event offers engaging talks by the invited experts, hands-on workshops, and networking opportunities, with no registration fees. Accommodation and meals will be provided by the organizers, and limited travel grants are available for select participants. Supported by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and the Shaw Prize Foundation, and hosted by the Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) and organized by the OAE Node Nepal, this workshop promises to be a transformative experience for astronomy educators across Asia.

Registration is open until November 22, 2024—don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your teaching skills and connect with like-minded educators!
