Even though in an ideal world everyone would have access to astronomy, that is not the reality for millions of people all over the world, and in Colombia, this happens even in the main cities of the country.
Helios GTTP has created and carried out educational and outreach activities applying modeling instruction methodology and hands-on activities with communities that are not able to attend the planetarium or astronomy club´s activities and also are not considered the target audience because of geographical location, beliefs, or even prejudice.
Biography:
Carolina Escobar García is an environmental engineer, an Ambassador of the Galileo Teacher Training Program, a member of Global Hands On Universe, a collaborator of The IAU Office Of Astronomy for Education OAE in Colombia, and has an interest in astronomy education and outreach.
