Glossary term: 银盘
Description: 银盘是银河系的盘状结构，其中包含围绕银河系中心做圆形共面运动的恒星、气体和尘埃。银盘的直径约为 10 万光年，与之相比，银盘非常薄。它有时被分为两个部分：厚度约为 1000 光年的薄盘和厚度约为 5000 光年的厚盘。厚盘是银河系的独立组成部分还是薄盘的延伸，天文学家对此尚有争论。薄盘有四个旋臂，那里的恒星形成率相对较高。盘的周围环绕着一个巨大的星系晕。
虽然对银河系的研究很深入，但它的精确结构仍然存在一些争议，尤其是在核心附近，那里恒星密度大，星际物质造成的消光给研究造成了困难。
