Glossary term: 光电效应

Description: 当光或其他电磁辐射照射到材料上时,电子会根据材料和光的频率不同,以不同能量被发射出来:这就是光电效应。这个现象可以通过把光看作称为光子的粒子或能量包来解释。对于材料(主要是金属)来说,光的频率应大于阈值频率(材料的特性),才会发生这些光电子的发射。它们的最大能量由频率决定;提高光的频率会增加电子的最大动能。增加单色光的强度会释放出更多的电子,但电子的最大动能却不会变化。这是因为光的强度与光子的数量成正比。
