Glossary term: 紫外线(UV)
Description: 紫外线辐射,缩写为“UV”,是由波长在10纳米到380纳米之间的基本波所组成的电磁辐射。这些波长介于X射线和可见光之间。来自天体的大部分紫外线辐射都会被地球大气层吸收,因此紫外线天文学必然需要空间望远镜,如哈勃空间望远镜;或更专门的天文台,如GALEX。紫外线辐射可用于研究炽热、年轻的恒星,确定星际介质的化学成分,研究太阳活动和日冕,以及探索活动星系核的某些特性。
