Description: 本影在拉丁语中是 "阴影 "的意思。在食现象中，本影是观测者看到一个天体完全遮挡另一个天体光线的区域。以日食为例，任何位于本影区的观测者都会看到太阳的圆面被月球完全遮住。另一方面，位于半影区的观测者只能看到偏食--日食中，太阳圆面仅被月球部分覆盖。如果观测者看到的物体太小，无法完全覆盖其后面的物体，如日环食，则称观测者位于伪本影区。另一个含义：太阳黑子内部最暗的区域称为本影，周围较暗的区域称为半影。
