Description: 任何在空间中传播而几乎没有变化的模式都是一种波。傅立叶定理说明了如何将这种传播模式理解为一系列“基本波”的总和，其中每个基本波都是一种重复着极大值或极小值的规则模式，类似于数学中的正弦函数。这种有规则基本波的每个最大值与下一个最大值之间的距离称为波长。有几种波现象在天文学中发挥作用。电磁辐射——我们获取天体信息的主要来源——就是一种波现象。在某些观测技术中，波的特性发挥着重要作用。声波对恒星的内部结构起着作用。引力波已成为天体信息的新来源。
