Glossary term: 消光
Description: 星光在到达我们的过程中强度减弱,这一现象称为消光。这种减弱是由于光在传播过程中被粒子吸收和散射造成的。消光可能来自地球大气层(称为大气消光)、恒星附近的物质(称为星周消光)或恒星之间的物质(称为星际消光)。大气消光主要是地球大气中存在的气溶胶和分子,如水、二氧化碳和臭氧,在光学和近红外波段的影响。星际消光则归因于气体和亚微米级尘埃粒子组成的星际物质。与气体微粒相比,星际尘埃对星光的影响更大。消光通常在较短波长下更强,反之亦然,这使得天体看起来比其真实颜色更红(红化)。
