Glossary term: 多普勒效应
Description: 多普勒效应是指由于波源相对于观测者的运动导致声波或光波的检测波长(或频率)发生变化的现象。该效应使天文学家能够研究任何发出波(如电磁辐射)的天体(如恒星、星系、气体等)的运动。例如,当一颗恒星发出的辐射在特定波长上有光谱线时,所有光谱线的波长都会发生位移。对于速度远小于光速的情况,多普勒频移(或波长变化)与波源在观测者视线方向上的相对速度除以光速成正比。
