Description: 赤道是一條環繞地球的假想線，與南北兩極的距離相等，且垂直於地球自轉軸。赤道是地球表面距離自轉軸最遠的一條線。在兩極，自轉軸與地表相交。在地球表面的經緯度坐標系中，赤道的緯度定義為為零度。赤道將地球分為南北半球。位於北半球的地點，其緯度為正；而位於南半球的地點，其緯度為負。
