Description: 赫羅圖是展現恆星兩種觀測屬性的圖表:一個坐標軸是恆星發出的總功率(光度型),另一個坐標軸是恆星的有效溫度(光譜型)。在以有效溫度為坐標軸時,刻度採用對數標度,從右向左遞增。赫羅圖以兩位科學家的名字命名:埃納·赫茨普龍(Ejnar Hertzsprung)和亨利·諾利斯·羅素(Henry Norris Russell),他們最早製作了不同版本的這類圖表,以了解恆星的特性。與所謂的“主序星”相對應的數據點位於赫羅圖中從左上到右下的對角線帶上。巨星對應的數據點位於主序帶的右上方,而白矮星則位於該帶的左下方。
