Description: 當光或其他電磁輻射照射到材料上時,電子會根據材料和光的頻率不同,以不同能量被發射出來:這就是光電效應。這個現象可以通過把光看作稱為光子的粒子或能量包來解釋。對於材料(主要是金屬)來說,光的頻率應大於閾值頻率(材料的特性),才會發生這些光電子的發射。它們的最大能量由頻率決定;提高光的頻率會增加電子的最大動能。增加單色光的強度會釋放出更多的電子,但電子的最大動能卻不會變化。這是因為光的強度與光子的數量成正比。
