Description: 太陽上形成的太陽黑子數量具有一個大概 11 年的週期變化，與太陽活動的強弱變化相對應。一個新的太陽黑子週期開始於太陽活動最小期之後，此時太陽幾乎沒有黑子。在新的太陽黑子週期開始時，太陽黑子會在距離太陽赤道大約+/- 30度（北緯或南緯）的緯度上形成。隨著週期的繼續，新的太陽黑子會在更靠近太陽赤道的緯度形成。經過一段時間後，隨著太陽活動週期從太陽活動最大值轉向太陽活動最小值，形成的太陽黑子數量會減少，這表明太陽活動週期結束。
