Description: 類地行星主要由岩石和鐵等物質構成。類地行星沒有巨型氣體行星上又氫氣和氦氣構成的蓬鬆大氣層,,而是擁有較小的大氣層或根本沒有大氣層。類地行星的質量通常小於巨行星,體積也較小。
在太陽系中,類地行星有水星、金星、地球和火星。
系外行星天文學的主要研究重點之一是尋找大小和組成類似地球的類地行星,尤其是那些位於其恆星宜居帶內的行星。
