Description: 紫外線輻射,縮寫為“UV”,是由波長在10納米到380納米之間的基本波所組成的電磁輻射。這些波長介於X射線和可見光之間。來自天體的大部分紫外線輻射都會被地球大氣層吸收,因此紫外線天文學必然需要空間望遠鏡,如哈勃空間望遠鏡;或更專門的天文臺,如GALEX。紫外線輻射可用於研究熾熱、年輕的恆星,確定星際介質的化學成分,研究太陽活動和日冕,以及探索活動星系核的某些特性。
