Description: Infrarotlicht ist elektromagnetische Strahlung, deren Wellenlänge länger als die des sichtbaren Lichts, aber kürzer als die von Mikrowellen und Radiowellen ist. Infrarotlicht hat Wellenlängen im Bereich von 700 Nanometern bis zu einem Millimeter, während sichtbares Licht Wellenlängen von etwa 400 bis 700 Nanometern hat. Infrarotlicht ist daher für das menschliche Auge unsichtbar und kann nur mit speziellen Kameras gesehen werden. Objekte mit Temperaturen von einigen zehn bis einigen tausend Kelvin, wie Molekülwolken im Weltraum, der menschliche Körper oder braune Zwerge, strahlen im Infrarotbereich am meisten elektromagnetische Strahlung aus.
