Glossary term: Astronauta
Description: Un astronauta es una persona cualificada para formar parte de una tripulación a bordo de un vuelo espacial. Los astronautas están capacitados para manejar cohetes y estaciones espaciales y para resolver problemas técnicos especializados propios de los viajes fuera de la atmósfera terrestre. A menudo reciben formación para realizar experimentos científicos en el espacio. Algunos astronautas han pisado la Luna. Astronauta se utilizaba originalmente para referirse a las tripulaciones espaciales de los Estados Unidos de América, pero ahora es un término general utilizado por muchos países diferentes. Los astronautas rusos se llaman cosmonautas, los chinos taikonautas y los europeos spationauts.
