Glossary term: Astronomía
Description: La astronomía es una de las ciencias más antiguas e implica el estudio de los cuerpos celestes en el cielo, tal como estrellas, planetas, galaxias, meteoros y meteoritos. También estudia la atmósfera con el fin de comparar el planeta Tierra con los planetas vecinos. En el pasado, la astronomía se ocupaba de seguir las posiciones del Sol, la Luna y los planetas con propósitos calendáricos y de navegación. En la actualidad, los astrónomos modernos también estudian los fenómenos físicos que rigen la formación y el comportamiento de los objetos astronómicos.
En la antigüedad, la astronomía solía estar estrechamente relacionada con la pseudociencia de la astrología y muchas personas aún no conocen la diferencia entre ambas.
La astronomía es una de las pocas ciencias en las que los aficionados pueden desempeñar un papel importante, ya que los astrónomos aficionados han contribuido a muchos descubrimientos importantes.
