Description: Les météorites ferreuses sont des météorites contenant une quantité abondante de fer et de nickel. On pense qu'elles font partie du noyau des astéroïdes et qu'elles sont très denses et très lourdes. Près de 60 % des météorites trouvées sur Terre sont des météorites de fer, alors qu'elles ne représentent que 5 % des météorites qui frappent la surface de la Terre. Cela s'explique notamment par le fait qu'elles sont plus résistantes et qu'elles ne s'altèrent pas aussi facilement que les météorites pierreuses.
