Glossary term: Énergie noire
Description: L'énergie noire est l'une des hypothèses proposées pour expliquer l'expansion accélérée de l'Univers, qui se produit depuis six milliards d'années sur les plus grandes échelles. L'énergie noire est souvent décrite comme une "force" opposée à la gravité. Les effets de l'énergie noire sont déduits d'observations et de mesures indirectes des supernovae de type Ia, du rayonnement fossile, des amas de galaxies, de l'effet de lentille gravitationnelle et des oscillations acoustiques des baryons, qui semblent indiquer que l'énergie noire représente un peu plus de 70 % de la composition de l'Univers. Malgré cela, la nature de l'énergie noire, l'existence de différents types d'énergie noire, l'évolution de l'énergie noire au cours du temps cosmique et les alternatives à l'énergie noire font encore l'objet de nombreuses recherches et de nombreux débats aujourd'hui.
