Description: Il meteo spaziale descrive come variano nel tempo, in prossimità della Terra, le condizioni legate alla presenza di particelle cariche e alle proprietà del campo magnetico terrestre. Un tempo spaziale inclemente, con un gran numero di particelle cariche che arrivano dallo spazio, può rendere più difficili le comunicazioni radio e, nel caso di una tempesta solare, arrivare a danneggiare l'elettronica dei veicoli spaziali o anche a terra. È anche associato a quelli che sono sicuramente i fenomeni meteorologici spaziali più belli: le coloratissime aurore polari. I fattori che influenzano il tempo spaziale sono i raggi cosmici, lo stato delle fasce di Van Allen di particelle cariche nei campi magnetici terrestri, il vento solare di particelle cariche ed eventi come i brillamenti e le espulsioni di massa coronale che lanciano particelle cariche in direzione della Terra.
