Glossary term: Stella di tipo B
Description: Una stella di tipo spettrale "B". Gli astronomi identificano le stelle di tipo B per la presenza di righe spettrali dell'elio neutro insieme a quelle dell'idrogeno. Hanno temperature tipiche (effettive) comprese tra circa 10.000 kelvin (K) e 30.000 K. Rispetto ad altre stelle, appaiono bianco-bluastre all'occhio umano, a meno che l'arrossamento interstellare o atmosferico non sia importante. Esempi di stelle di tipo B sono Regolo nel Leone, Rigel in Orione e Spica nella Vergine.
