Description: वारंवारता म्हणजे एखादी वस्तू प्रति युनिट वेळेत किती वेळा दोलन करते याचे माप. जसे चक्र/सेकंद (किंवा हर्ट्झ [Hz]). कोणत्याही तरंगाचा हा एक सामान्य गुणधर्म आहे - ध्वनी लहरी, प्रकाश किंवा गुरुत्वीय लहरी. तरंगाची वारंवारता आणि तरंगलांबी हे एका सूत्राद्वारे संबंधित आहे. वारंवारता = v/तरंगलांबी जेथे v हा लहरीचा वेग आहे. इलेक्ट्रोमॅग्नेटिक रेडिएशनची चर्चा करताना खगोलशास्त्रज्ञ सामान्यत: वारंवारता किंवा तरंगलांबी चा वापर करतात (कधी कधी एकमेकांना बदलून सामान अर्थ सांगण्यास वापरतात).
