Glossary term: चंद्राच्या कला
Description: सूर्याद्वारे प्रकाशित चंद्राच्या दृश्यमान भागाचा बदलणारा आकार याला चंद्राच्या कला असे म्हटले जाते. चंद्रग्रहणांव्यतिरिक्त अर्धा चंद्र नेहमी सूर्याद्वारे प्रकाशित असतो. पृथ्वीवर आपल्याला चंद्राचे वेगवेगळे भाग प्रकाशित झालेले दिसतात कारण तो आपल्याभोवती त्याच्या कक्षेत फिरतो. चंद्र महिना एकाच कलेवर सुरू होतो आणि संपतो. उदाहरणार्थ, जर आपण अमावस्यापासून सुरुवात केली, तर पृथ्वीभोवती चंद्राच्या क्रांतीमुळे (अंदाजे एक महिना, 29.5 दिवस लागतात) चंद्राच्या प्रकाशित भागाचा आकार हळूहळू वाढून चंद्रकोर बनतो (शुक्लपक्ष). अर्ध चंद्र प्रारंभ बिंदूपासून 90 अंशांवर येतो. चंद्राचा प्रकाशित भाग सतत वाढत जातो, गिब्बस (उतल-आकार, किंवा फुगवटा-आकार) बनतो. प्रारंभ बिंदूपासून 180 अंशांवर पौर्णिमा होते. या बिंदूनंतर, आकार हळूहळू कमी होऊ लागतो (अस्तित्वाचा टप्पा - कृष्ण पक्ष), परिणामी एक गिबस चंद्र, अर्ध चंद्राचा टप्पा सुरुवातीपासून 270 अंशांवर, अर्धचंद्राचा टप्पा आणि 360 अंशांवर अमावस्या, अशा प्रकारे चंद्र महिना समाप्त होतो. जरी चंद्र 90 आणि 270 अंशांवर अर्धा टप्पा दर्शवितो, तरीही पूर्णपणे विरुद्ध बाजूने प्रकाशित आहेत.
