Description: Leão, "o leão", é uma constelação do Zodíaco, ou seja, as estrelas que compõem essa constelação estão na parte do céu que cruza a eclíptica (o plano definido pela trajetória da Terra ao redor do Sol). Portanto, do nosso ponto de vista aqui na Terra, podemos encontrar regularmente o Sol e também os outros planetas do nosso Sistema Solar nessa constelação - no caso do Sol, de 11 de agosto a 17 de setembro. (É claro que, se o Sol estiver lá, não poderemos ver as estrelas da constelação.) No céu noturno, Leo é mais fácil de observar na primavera. É uma das 88 constelações modernas definidas pela União Astronômica Internacional e também uma das 48 constelações clássicas nomeadas pelo astrônomo do século II, Claudius Ptolemy. A mais brilhante das inúmeras estrelas brilhantes de Leão é chamada Regulus.
