The poster will showcase some of the hands-on activities we use to demonstrate astronomy concepts, for students in after school astronomy clubs, and teachers during teacher training sessions.
Biography:
Sarah holds a B.Sc in Physics from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, and has an extensive background in IT. She was the Events Coordinator at the Ghana Planetarium for many years, organizing weekend programs for children, families, and the public, as well as special events such as teacher workshops, school visits, and the establishment of school astronomy clubs. As a dedicated science and astronomy educator and communicator, Sarah designs and delivers astronomy presentations and hands-on activities, with a strong focus on teacher training.
Sarah is the EcoSTEM Specialist for EduSpots, an NGO supporting community-led education initiatives across Ghana. She is also a member of the Outreach Committee of the African Astronomical Society (AfAS), an instructor for the Pan-African School for Emerging Astronomers (PASEA), and an Executive member of PRAGSAC (Promoting Astronomy in Ghana through School Visits and Astronomy Clubs), an outreach project promoting STEM through astronomy.
