About Karen Masters
Karen Masters is a Professor of Astronomy and Physics at Haverford College (a small undergraduate only college just outside Philadelphia). In her research Prof. Masters seeks to use large surveys to understand how galaxies in our Universe form and evolve. She is the Principle Investigator for Galaxy Zoo (www.galaxyzoo.org), a project she has been involved in for over a decade. She was Spokesperson for the Fourth phase of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-IV; www.sdss.org), and uses MaNGA data from SDSS-IV frequently in research. She is also a radio astronomer, specialising in 21cm line observations, particularly with GBT, and running a large HI following program for MaNGA (HI-MaNGA) as well as participating in ALMA survey teams.
