Glossary term: 红矮星
Description: 红矮星是小而低质量的恒星,其有效温度低于3900开尔文(K)(约3600摄氏度(°C))。相较于黄色的类太阳恒星,它们在人眼中看来会显得更红,但没有红矮星可以被肉眼直接看到。质量在太阳质量8%到50%之间的恒星,大部分时间都处于红矮星阶段。这些恒星的氢核聚变速度远低于太阳等恒星,因此亮度较低,但能够维持氢聚变更长的时间。许多红矮星具有非常强的磁场,因此会比类太阳恒星有更多的磁暴和恒星黑子。银河系中的大多数恒星都是红矮星,距离太阳10秒差距以内的恒星也多为红矮星。
