Description: 隨著時代變遷，天上的繁星被許多不同文化賦予了不同的名稱。這些名稱大多是賦予肉眼可見的明亮恆星的。
大多數暗星都沒有名字，而是用數字或希臘字母表示，並以所屬星座名、星表編號或坐標為後綴。變星通常用兩個拉丁字母表示，並以所屬星座名為後綴。
少數暗星是以首次觀測到該星或對其進行重要研究的天文學家的名字命名的。
恆星通常有來自不同文化的多個名稱，也有基於星表或其星座的名稱。
多星系統中，在恆星的名稱末尾加上一個大寫拉丁字母，以區別於同一系統的其他恆星。對於系外行星的名稱，則在其母恆星名稱的末尾加上一個小寫拉丁字母。
