Glossary term: 大氣層
Description: 大氣層是圍繞天體的一層氣體,它由天體的引力維持,因此在表面處最為稠密,而在高空逐漸與星際空間融合。
對於具有固態或液態表面的行星,大氣層的下邊界是明確的。然而,恆星因為其內部是氣態的,所以沒有明確的大氣層下邊界。恆星大氣通常指的是恆星的外層氣態區域,光線從恆星內部穿過這一層進入太空。
行星的磁場可以保護其大氣層不被太陽風或恆星風迅速吹散。以地球為例,磁場不僅保護大氣層,還保護所有生物免受太陽風和宇宙射線的有害影響,從而避免基因損傷。
