Glossarbegriffe: Sonnensystem
Description: Alle Objekte, die unter dem Gravitationseinfluss der Sonne stehen, gehören zum Sonnensystem. Neben der Sonne im Zentrum umfasst das Sonnensystem die acht Planeten (Merkur, Venus, Erde, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus und Neptun), ihre Monde, Zwergplaneten, Asteroiden, Kometen, Meteoroiden und andere Objekte im Kuiper-Gürtel und darüber hinaus, die die Sonne umkreisen, sowie künstliche Satelliten und Raumsonden. Man geht davon aus, dass sich das Sonnensystem bis zu 100.000 Astronomische Einheiten von der Sonne entfernt in die sogenannte Oortsche Wolke erstreckt, die aus Milliarden von Eisobjekten besteht.
