Glossary term: Étoile sous-géante
Description: Une sous-géante est une étoile qui se situe entre la séquence principale et la branche des géantes sur le diagramme de Hertzsprung-Russell. Il s'agit principalement d'étoiles qui ont terminé la fusion de l'hydrogène dans leur cœur et qui évoluent pour devenir des étoiles géantes. Certaines de ces sous-géantes ont des pulsations, ce qui en fait des étoiles variables. Les étoiles variables des céphéides sont un exemple de ce type d'étoiles sous-géantes pulsantes.
