Description: Un astronauta è una persona qualificata a far parte di un equipaggio a bordo di un volo spaziale. Gli astronauti sono addestrati al funzionamento dei razzi, delle stazioni spaziali e a risolvere i problemi tecnici specifici dei viaggi al di fuori dell'atmosfera terrestre. Spesso sono addestrati a svolgere esperimenti scientifici nello spazio. Alcuni astronauti hanno anche camminato sulla Luna. Il termine astronauta era originariamente utilizzato per indicare gli equipaggi spaziali degli Stati Uniti d'America, ma oggi è un termine generale utilizzato da molti Paesi diversi. Gli equipaggi spaziali russi sono chiamati cosmonauti, quelli cinesi sono spesso chiamati taikonauti e quelli europei sono definiti spazionauti.
