Glossary term: Oggetto trans-nettuniano
Description: Gli oggetti trans-nettuniani (TNO) sono una classe di piccoli oggetti e pianeti nani che orbitano intorno al Sole oltre l'orbita di Nettuno. Sono definiti come aventi una distanza tipica dal Sole (il semiasse maggiore della loro orbita) superiore alla distanza tipica di Nettuno dal Sole (30,1 Unità Astronomiche o distanze Terra-Sole). Si conoscono oltre 2000 TNO. La maggior parte di essi fa parte della Fascia di Kuiper, anche se gli oggetti più distanti fanno parte di una popolazione chiamata disco disperso.
