I have a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Physics with a specialization in Astronomy from the Universidad de la República (Uruguay). I have been teaching astronomy for over 10 years and currently work as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Astronomy at the Faculty of Sciences and as an outreach educator at the Montevideo Planetarium. I actively participate in various initiatives to bring astronomy closer to the community, including basic courses for the general public, astronomical observation events, and the organization of the Astronomy Olympiads.

My name is Pablo Lemos, I got my PhD in Germany, at the TU Braunschweig. My work focused on the study of minor Solar System bodies, specifically comets, combining observations with advanced data analysis tools.

I am a physicist, educator, and science communicator with a strong background in physics and astronomy. I am the coordinator of the Physics Laboratory at the Faculty of Engineering of Universidad ORT Uruguay, where I work as a professor and researcher. With over 20 years of experience in education, I focus on physics education, experimental physics, and the development of interactive resources for teaching science. I actively participate in activities and initiatives to promote science among teachers and the general public through publications, conferences, workshops, and outreach events.
I am a member of the Latin American Network for Scientific Culture (RedLCC) and the Network for the Popularization of Science and Technology in Latin America and the Caribbean (RedPOP), a UNESCO-affiliated network dedicated to fostering science communication and education throughout the region. Additionally, I serve on the executive boards of the Uruguayan Society of Physics (SUF) and the Uruguayan Society of Astronomy (SUA). I am part of the organizing teams of the Uruguayan Physics Olympiad (OFU) and the Uruguayan Astronomy Olympiad (OUA), and currently hold the position of Vice President of the Ibero-American Physics Olympiad (OIbF). I have also organized scientific photography contests in Uruguay, such as Foto.Física and Astrofotografía.
Over the past decade, my research has focused on developing physics experiments using new technologies, including open-source software, open hardware, Arduino, and smartphones. I have published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers in international journals on physics and astronomy education, which have been cited over 1,000 times. In 2024, I was recognized as a Trusted Reviewer by IOP Publishing. In addition to my work in academia, I am also a cultural manager, contributing to various projects that connect science, history, and the arts.

The area of my thesis was the properties of the hypothetical Planet 9. Passionate about science teaching and the link between science education and technology. Among my hobbies is my love of chess.
