Glossary term: Disco Galaxy
Description: Uma galáxia em disco é um tipo de galáxia que apresenta um componente plano de estrelas, gás e poeira, todos em movimento circular coplanar em torno do centro da galáxia. Os braços espirais e a atividade de formação de estrelas associada estão frequentemente presentes nesses discos. Na maioria dos esquemas de classificação de galáxias, as galáxias em disco são diferenciadas das galáxias elípticas, irregulares e anãs.
