Glossary term: 类地行星
Description: 类地行星主要由岩石和铁等物质构成。类地行星没有巨型气体行星上又氢气和氦气构成的蓬松大气层,,而是拥有较小的大气层或根本没有大气层。类地行星的质量通常小于巨行星,体积也较小。
在太阳系中,类地行星有水星、金星、地球和火星。
系外行星天文学的主要研究重点之一是寻找大小和组成类似地球的类地行星,尤其是那些位于其恒星宜居带内的行星。
