The RSCP Calicut organized an OAE-Center India supported TTP on Astronomy from February 20-22, 2024 in order to support school teachers who are dedicated to teaching science, geography, mathematics, and environmental studies and wish to impart astronomy concepts to their students.
About
The OAE Center India is hosted by the Inter University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics, Pune (India) in association with the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education of the Tata Institute for Fundamental Research, Mumbai (India). The OAE Center India will focus on:
- Assessment and development of Astronomy teaching methods
- Creation of assessment tools for middle and high-school students and teachers
- Development of teacher training material
- Development of a model curriculum for astronomy with relevance to specific regions and cultures in India and countries in the Afro-Asian region with similar learning environments.

I did my MSc in Mathematics from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 2014. I am a PhD graduate in gravitational wave data analysis from the Gran Sasso Science Institute, Italy 2019 and have completed a 2.5 year postdoctoral tenure at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. My research interests are in the study of high energy astrophysical sources, specifically through the detection of gravitational waves and X-ray emissions. In addition to my research work, I am deeply interested to science outreach and education, which is evident from my co-founding of a planetarium and observatory during my undergraduate days and my continued involvement in outreach activities. I was part of 600 scientists who volunteered for Covid awareness programs and contributed to multi-lingual infographics.
