School of Astronomy & Physics/ Quaid-e-Azam University Isb

Mirwat is an educator, teaching Physics to girls for past six years. She is passionate to rethink and reimagine space education and STEM future for the youngsters. The vacuum in the educational system for inclusion of space science even within the proverbial best educational institutions and national programs of the country has left her with a yearning to shift trends for learning science beyond the conventional realm of curriculum and classroom settings.

She, in her own capacity, collaborates both at national and international level to organize space related activities, Space & STEM research projects, guest talks, celestial observation sessions and virtual visits to large research infrastructures. She is currently running a project “School of Astronomy and Physics by Mirwat” under the program “Science Quench” to expand Space and STEM awareness within Pakistan.

She is an International Day of Light (IDL) 2021 Alumni, a National Node for IDL and CERN Ambassador & Alumni. Currently, she is serving as Advocate for STEP UP program of American Physical Society. She has been featured in the 2021 SPIE (International Society for Optics and Photonics) Planner for the “Women making a difference in the fields of SCIENCE,OPTICS and ENGINEERING”.
