Die zunehmende Mondsichel, fotografiert von der südlichen Hemisphäre (Neuseeland) aus. Während dieser Mondphase ist der größte Teil der beleuchteten Hälfte des Mondes von der Erde aus nicht sichtbar, so dass nur eine dünne Mondsichel hell erscheint.
